Meet Zeba: Creator of Beauty Blog called Ella Pretty

Zeba, creator of beauty blog Ella Pretty is a mom by day, and beauty blogger by night. Her blog is filled with all things pretty, from her best style tips to beauty tricks. This mother of twins has already accomplished so much – from graduating with honours from Wellesley College, to getting hired by Goldman Sachs right after graduation, doing her masters at the London School of Economics, and now having built herself a successful online business. She is a powerful female force that we can all learn from!

She started her blog way back in 2009 when her twins were just toddlers.

I used to read blog posts during their naptimes. I learned so much – and I was inspired to create my OWN blog to share my favorite tips and tricks with readers.

Zeba has done just that. She has shared countless beauty tips and style secrets for how to maximize a look with minimal effort on her fashion and beauty blog. She also regularly updates her Instagram with her glamorous OOTDs. We wanted to know her go to lazy day outfit, for when she wants to look put-together, without putting in too much effort. Her response:

I love distressed jeans, a pretty lace top, ballet flats and my PRADA Baroque sunglasses.

Other than her PRADA Baroque sunglasses, she tells us about some of the other accessories that she can’t live without.

Sun protection is SO important – I love my Avene SPF 50 compact, a lightweight sunhat and a pretty pair of sunglasses – I’m especially loving metallic aviators right now!

In term of fashion, she seems to always know how to perfectly pair her accessories with beautiful items of clothing. We wondered if she always had an amazing fashion taste, or did she also make some fashion faux pas when she was younger. We asked her what fashion advice would she give her 18-year-old self, and her response was:

I’ve always favored classic, well-fitting clothing –so I’m pretty happy with the way I dressed at 18! If anything, I dressed more simply back then – so I’d tell myself:  Don’t be afraid to take risks – feel free to combine trends and layer clothes in a way that works for you.

It sounds like she was a natural fashionista from a young age. We wanted her to take on the current fashion trends that she’s looking forward to this year. She excitedly tells us:

There are SO many trends that I’ve been loving….as a result, my online shopping is getting a little bit out of control! For fabrics:  millennial pink, floral prints, blue + white stripes and crochet lace. In terms of clothing styles: midi dresses and skirts, cold shoulder tops and kitten heels.  For accessories: rose gold metallic sunglasses, sunnies with pink plastic frames, tassel earrings and mini crossbody bags.

Being a mom to twins, while maintaining a successful blog and all her social media accounts can’t have been easy. However, Zeba was able to find the right balance between her work life and mom life.

There is a lot of flexibility in blogging, so I try to schedule my work around my family responsibilities.  While the twins are at school, I attend meetings, go to events and catch up on my product photography. I only attend a limited number of evening events as they interfere with homework/family time. I usually write my blog posts after they go to bed.

Zeba makes time management look so easy! But she has also faced challenges throughout her blogging journey. She tells us about her biggest challenge:

The most challenging part of my blogging journey has been defining the right path for me. Blogging can take up all of your time, if you let it! It’s difficult to figure out how much total time to devote to it – and how to divide up that time – between creating content, keeping track of trends, taking online courses on photography and editing, networking and attending events. You want to take advantage of exciting opportunities, but if you say yes to everything, it can get out of control real fast!

However, she doesn’t have to face her challenges alone. She has a whole community of bloggers dealing with the same struggles and has formed friendships with these powerful women.

I’m very inspired by my fellow bloggers – I still get excited when I discover a new blogger to follow! I focus on blogging about the things that I love to read myself – affordable fashion, effective beauty products and a couple of designer splurges!
